Birthday outfit and thank you!!

Wow I haven't posted what I wanted to in days. I've just been SO busy with homework and getting ready for my birthday! which was today (22-09) :)
Normally I'm excited about my birthday 3 weeks ahead but this year I didn't really realize it was coming. Which really made the day itself much nicer actually~

So now, for my outfit today! My new coat came in yesterday!! Just in time for me to wear it on my birthday and be able to create the outfit I had anticipated for weeks!!

It was inspired by this outfit Yumachi was wearing in last February's Egg:
Photobucket
I just ordered the coat I had a whole different idea with it, you'll see that one too when I assemble it~ But I adore this coord and I tried to get as close as possible with my wardrobe~

Gwaaa I love it ♥ I'm very pleased~~

Some of you mentioned, in the readersurvey, that it would be usefull to make reference of the brands I wear and where I got things I used for deco and DIY. I never did this, partly because I don't wanna be a showoff with some (only a minor amount) of the stuff I have, that come from Japanese or high-end western brands. But because some of you mentioned how handy that would be, I'll try to make little rundowns from now~

hat: second hand
sweater: was my dad's
pants: from a cheap little shop in Harajuku
shoes: CafeModa
necklace: River Island
belt: Alyssa Mode
coat: ebay
These coats are quite well represented in the local shops and I've seen nice ones for a low budget in C&A, though e-bay is VERY reasonable too and quite satisfactory. (I'd use the word cheap but this is relative. For the type of garment:coat, it's low-budget)

I also wanna thank you for 2 things:
1. Thanx so much for the great response to the survey. You've helped me a lot, I got some valuable advice and lovely support and the data I gained will help me make the blog more lively and make me enjoy blogging more!
2. Thanx so much for all the lovely fb messages for my birthday, I will return to thanking people personally when I've had all my parties and everything over with~

Lady in red: inspired by Lizlisa a/w 2011 catalogue.

To forget my disappointment with gal trends this year, I turned to brands with a typical house-style. Like Lizlisa and Ma*rs
Lizlisa's cute style for fall made me smile, and I was reminded of some stuff I came across shopping
Photobucket
This red floral dress we see here center left
Photobucket
Reminded me of an Esprit top I saw mid-August:
Photobucket
I tried to make a whole outfit out of it, which kind of takes away the similarities with the dress and Lizlisa style..but still cool :P
Photobucket
this is a coord based off the red dress, but because it doesn't have the print it becomes more mature and neutral.

Photobucket
The top here on the left reminded me strongly of a RI top:
Photobucket
I think it would be great with some kind of tartan pleated skirt and the floppy hat from the previous coord to make it more like the Lizlisa coordinate.

Reader survey!

Lately I've been strugling a lot with the whole concept of this blog. I don't produce a lot of very valuable posts or information but time and time again my eyes are drawn to this magical number on my followercount and I'm still surprised so many of you are still around. For those of you that watch my posts I want to see what it is that makes you watch and what I can do to deliver something to you that you like to see. In order to do that I've got this survey I'd really like it if some of you wouldn't mind to take some time to fill out. It's just information for me and it's anonymous, there's always ways to avoid giving an answer to the question~

New deco

Only a short post, but because so much effort and time had gone into it, I couldn't do different than share it with the world.
Photobucket
My new lilac deco!!!
I feel it's a little oldschool, I'm not sure what kind of deco style is trending..
the lines aren't really straight and parallel either ^^;;

But I'm very, VERY happy ♥ I love it no matter what you sayyyy XD

Also, I got no less than 2 blog awards from the lovely Ayari! (you should really click that link because she's got the cutest layout!!)
Thank you so much for the awards! As I've already passed on awards before, I'll just leave it like this, so sorry!

Gal over 30

Some months ago I realized how long one of my favourite agemo had been around. I'm talking about Ayurina. She's already 29 and going to turn 30 in December. I was worried about her, as she might be kicked out of the magazine at 30..

Next thing I knew it was August and gal icon Momoeri turned 30!
Photobucket
Yes, this one is 30, would you believe it?

The borders of gal have definetly been stretched in the past decade. In the 90's being gal over 20 was nearly unthinkable, and nowadays ladies can be gal even well into their 30's!

The other day Rox linked me here to the Ageha, Nuts and I♥Mama collab oneesan ni natta (vol. 2). I was looking all around for it but couldn't find it, luckily I have Rox XD she knows how to find stuff U_U

Not only is this mag much more pleasant to read as they don't attempt to squeeze in too many people and items into one page, I was also happily surprised to see gals 30, 31, 34, yes even 36 years old!

Photobucket
This woman is supposed to be 36. Some photoshop helps here, of course :P but she's pretty fit for a 36 year old mother of 3~ She's also single and if I got it right, she got divorced twice.

Photobucket
(no idea why they're flashing the rings)
She got her first child at 19 and this one is now 16 years old (well, at the time it was printed). 2 of her kids are boys, the last one is a girl. And after a bit of research I found out the most perculiar fact. This woman is a grandmother.

Note: This can be prevented by several methods of birth-control~
Unless you want it like this, obviously~

Sorry, I only just got over the whole gal mama phenomenon in general so gal grandmom..not for me :/
Nonetheless she's got some hot style :D
Photobucket
For a profession it seems she manages a website for Korean cosmetics. Maybe she does some more than that... But all in all she makes a fine living because she's got a motorbike and a car. I do hope she spends some of that money on her kids and grandchild~

Even though not all models were wearing such typical and flashy coordinates, it was good to see there were ways to grow up gal and there turned out to be many different options.

Also, don't worry, this is the only grandmom and most of the girls in the magazine have high positions in their profession or cute little families instead~

How long would you like to hold on to your style for?

D.I.A inspired items from River Island

I had a nice list of scheduled posts for the next week but this one snuck in with a bit more urgency as there is a clock ticking on the items I'm presenting here.

First and foremost. I wanna send you to this post, on Rox blog about making D.I.A inspired belts~

I have an alternative for the slightly less crafty with a slightly bigger budget.
The old and New from River Island. Even though River Island isn't the shop I loved so much one year back anymore, we'll still find some great items from previous collections on Ebay.

Photobucket
This belt is pure LOVE, find it here

Photobucket
This top will do lovely in a cool and sexy D.I.A kinda look, or with a cute Agejo look! Find it here

Photobucket
Same counts for this printed top, the green detail in the print would go great with a dark tan! find it here

The current collection still has some nice pieces to work with, they're just not as easy to find as before.

Photobucket
This belt will go well over a dress.

A variety of sheer animal-print tops have got that D.I.A. feel and work over shorts, trashed jeans and maybe even over a neutral maxi-dress.

Gyaru Challenge 6: Seifuku style

It turned out pretty tough to keep up posting the challenge results weekly, it also took away a lot of chances for me to dress up in my preferred style, I think it had a pretty bad effect on me in that sense XD
Because of that and because the semester will be starting again I will post the last results when I find spirit to take up some challenges again sometime in the next couple of months. Currently I only have vintage-rock and shibuhara style waiting for me. I really really wanna do it! but I need to find the time, and for the moment I'd rather focus on rediscovering my own style~

Rox is the creator of the Gyaru Challenge, and anyone can give Gyaru Challenge a try, it's really..challenging XD

The styles attempted in the Gyaru Challenge aren't my (new) personal style. I'm not claiming to perfectly copy a style or to be an expert, I'm just having a taste of everything :)

Sachiee challenged me with typical Hime style. I decided not to take up that challenge because it's just not fair, I've been into hime style for a long time, and my own style has always been close to Hime so I can't call it a "challenge" that's why I can't accept the challenge. If you'd look at the Abunai post you'll find my hime-look though~

This time I was Challenged by the cute Sylvia Tong for a seifuku gyaru look. In fact more specificly for a Nonoka seifuku look but I couldn't find any reference on that D: so I just went with some different seifuku looks. I've done this before, and even though I'm a ba3 student atm, I still enjoy wearing cute seifuku-like things.

First one, cute but very...western looking

I'm not sure if I passed the challenge or not but this is great fun, I'd love to try so much more with this~!

Tokyo Girls Collection favourites A/W 2011

Sadly I'm not one to make predictions and give real reports on events like Tokyo Girls Collection, what I can do is just page through the reports and find my favourites :D.

The only brands I really cared to see were One Spo and Cecil McBee.
One Spo gave me exactly what I was longing for in this coordinate:

Cape coats and tartan!

More charming coats:

Aquagirl: On The Streets

Murua

The Night Porter

Photobucket
Vence Exchange (is this the same as just vence, does anyone know?)

What I saw of Cecil McBee here didn't do too much for me. But it can't hurt to see Tsubasa in a funky coord:

One thing that made me happy: Hats! time for a silly hat party?

Funny hats (prolly more like props than actual streetwear) tartan and wide coats are a big hit with me. But the rest of fall's trends, for as far as my deductions go, disappoint me deeply and don't quite pull me out of my style dilemma the way I expected them to :/ (not saying it doesn't look cool, it's just not for me)

I don't think this year's Tokyo Girls Collection really did much for my gal spirit, but it's always fun to check it out and I'll be waiting for more data to be updated!
